No previous experience is necessary; your guide and hosts will share their in-depth knowledge of the history and how-to of dogsledding as the team takes you through the mosaic of woods, muskegs and lakes that make up the boreal forest.

You'll spend two days learning to run a dog team accompan- ied by our guide - hosts, while exploring Saskatchewan's edge of largest forest region in Canada.

Your night on the trail is in a traditional, wood heated, trap- per's-style wall tent, the howl of the huskies outside might even be your wilderness lullaby.

Side trips on dogsled and snowshoe. Good opportunities to search for wildlife and photography.

Lead Dog's Choice - Special Full Day Dogsledding

We'll take you dogsledding on the southern edge of the great northern forests in Canada...a sense of horizons unexplored... where wolves roam ice clad lakes that heave and groan and snow weighted bows greet frosted dawn.

This extended run into the backcountry (6 - 8 hours) includes special features not part of our regular Full Day of Mushing.

This is your best combination of mushing, learning and adventure opportunities along the trail with extra attention to details at Sundogs kennel. Once we have a few miles under our runners, you'll have a chance to drive the sled for a while with a guide-host at your side. This excursion includes a stop for a campfire and trail lunch at our backcountry camp. You can warm up in a cozy, wood heated trapper's-style canvas wall tent.

At the camp we'll look at some nuances of the snow pack, finding out how wildlife weather's the 'fourth season'. There are good opportunities for photography too. We provide snowshoes for a short side trip.

Winter Wildlife Watching - On The Edge of The Boreal Forest


Here is your winter time opportunity for exploration of the edge of largest forest region in Canada. In this vast boreal, you’ll search for its iconic wildlife - grey wolf, moose, elk, river otter, great grey owl and lesser known species that are part of this ecosystem’s web of life.

The daily guided excursions feature a combination of auto touring, snowshoeing, and if trails condi- tions allow, by dogsled* in the Anglin Lake area adjacent and through Prince Albert National Park.

* If the trails are not suitable for dogsledding we will take similar but shorter routes on foot. Bookings in later March are more likely to have less suitable dogsled trail conditions.

This is a u-drive package with your rental vehicle pick-up and drop-off at the Saskatoon SK Airport. We recommend 4- wheel or all-wheel drive vehicle. Our guides accompany you in the rental vehicle on the arranged excursions locally. We will make arrangements for your vehicle rental with rental charges paid by you directly to the vehicle rental company.
